Frequently Asked Questions

A comprehensive list of questions and answers explaining some of the common VandAlert functions and use cases. Got a question unanswered? Feel free to ask us personally here.

  1. What is the advantage of Vandalert in comparison to other similar services?

VandAlert continuously collects various visible and non-visible data on your web page (text, screenshot, linked elements, DNS records, …), compares them to usual changes and alerts you if significant deviations are detected.

  2. Do I need to install any software on my computer in order to use this service?

No. You will obtain a user name and password in order to access this service on-line. The only thing that you will have to do is to insert the URL of the page you wish to monitor.

  3. How frequently do I have to verify the site for possible defacements?

VandAlert monitors your web page, so you do not have to. We will send you a notification about the suspicious change via e-mail or SMS at the very moment we detect it, which will give your technical service enough time to restore the page to its previous condition. This will liberate you from the chore of constantly checking your page.

  4. Can VandAlert restore my site automatically?

Implementation of this functionality is planned. As site restore depends on your web hosting company, we left this functionality for future improvements. If you require this kind of functionality, have your web hosting provider contact us and we will work something out with them.

  5. How may I access this service?

We are currently testing the service and improving it. If you subscribe to our newsletter on the front page, we will let you know as soon as we open up the access to the service.
